Felix's Eagle Project
Felix Short coordinated our most recent Eagle Scout project at Camp Highroads (Will Salt did one there in 2015) . The camp has a small nature center where school children often come for lessons. And outside the center there is now a brand new grove of trees to help with the lessons.
Felix organized about 30 volunteers to clear the area, dig holes for the root balls (with the help of diggers donated after Will's Eagle Project), and construct steel fencing (to give the trees a fighting chance against the local deer population). And he did all the advance coordination with the Highroads camp staff and the tree orchard.
Many hands made light work. Thanks to Felix for a job well done. And thanks to all the volunteers.
Other Scouts looking for Eagle Projects would do well to contact Camp Highroads.
