Duncan Hollow Knob shakedown
Our second shakedown for Philmont was great. This was our 16th training outing. We've done a mixture of 10 and 20 mile hikes, plus one previous shakedown, over the course of the last year and I'm now confident in the boys ability to physically handle Philmont ... now we just need to work on decisionmaking and teamwork.
The crew gained two bonus scouts for the trip (Felix and James) and headed out for a two-nighter to Duncan Hollow Knob.
The weather was interesting, torrential rain on the drive out and then beautiful mid-50's clear blue skies for the majority of the trip (plus a little bit of wind).
The actual summit of Duncan Knob had some beautiful views of the valley and was a really fun rock scramble.
