A naval retirement ceremony
On a very wet Friday in early May, four members of Troop 1916 were honored to be invited to be the Color Guard at the retirement of a naval officer.
Capt. Brett Korade, who served in the navy for 25 years and the father of two of Troop 1916's scouts, Matthew and Evan, asked me if I could get four scouts to attend his retirement ceremony. An Eagle Scout himself he thought it would add a nice touch and in a way close the loop on his career. On informing the scouts that they would have to miss 1/2 a day of school I had my four very quickly.
Will, Charlie, Max and Joseph were the guys and they did a great job. The ceremony was a very moving affair and a fitting finale to a long and successful career of service.
