Canoeing on the south fork of the shenandoah

Our annual canoe trip was accompanied by beautiful mid-September weather.

We extended the trip this year and canoed 11 miles on day one instead of seven. There was definitely a little grumbling about the extra miles but we saw some really pretty cliffs and got to ride down the Compton rapids. Nothing too serious but still fun.

My favourite quote of the weekend came courtesy of Mr. Ross. The adult tenting area was visited early by a beautiful rooster who decided to let us know that the sun was up and the river was waiting. In other words he was screaming at us! As David emerged from his tent he simply looked and us and said "anyone one fancy chicken for breakfast!".

Check out the write up my Mr. Johanson here.
