THE big schloss shakedown

Our final shakedown before Philmont was a gem. We hiked just under 20 miles over the two days (13 day one and 7 day two) and boy were the views awesome.

A couple of pictures below to note. One, me warming my hands over an unlit fire! The boys were completely in charge this weekend and decided NOT to light a fire because it was too much effort -- lordy were Mike, David and I disappointed. Secondly, the ridge we hiked along towards Big Schloss straddled the VA and WV border and we attempted to make letters out of our hiking poles. One minor problem, we got our W and V the wrong way round, oh well!
