Families and Friends of Troop 1916,
What a splendid day to potter around in the calm waters of the Potomac River, just a few breezes south of the nation's capital.
And that's exactly what a fine crew of Troop 1916's Boy Scouts (and three intrepid adult Scouters) did this afternoon. Split into groups of four people per boat, Mr. Forrer, Mr. Falls, and Mr. Adams ably led the Scouts--Sam, Braden, Peter, Henry, Will S., Charlie, Max, Tommy, Jack, and Ian--and our special guests, Helen Forrer, Alex Glassman, and Ben Falls, on an afternoon of tacking and jibing across the Potomac River under the lovely sound of the United Airlines' 2:45 p.m.-flight to Logan Airport. We saw a number of other planes departing Washington Reagan National Airport, heading noisily south, before finding a flight path to their destination somewhere in the U.S.
We had four great instructors, all of whom seemed to know their way around the Flying Scots quite well and really helped the Scouts learn the basics of sailing.
A big "Thank you!" to one of our Assistant Scout Masters, Mr. Forrer, for organizing this superb outing for the Scouts. Here's to many more splendid outings in the year ahead.

P.S. See you at the first Troop Meeting will be on September 2nd!
